| Dilworth and Myers Park are adjoining neighborhoods that comprise the two original suburbs of Charlotte. The area, formerly known as the “Old South”, contains some of Charlotte’s most charming, historical and eclectic streets and neighborhoods. Originally outside the Charlotte city limits, Dilworth was developed in the 1890s and was linked to the uptown by trolley. Today, it is laid out in a grid pattern centered on East Boulevard and has a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. Most venues are easily reached by walking along the community’s tree-lined streets. Quaint, well-kept bungalows with front porches are balanced by larger colonial-style homes and new construction designed to echo the neo-classical, historic feel of the neighborhood. Restaurants, coffee shops and a variety of boutique and specialty businesses are peppered along East Boulevard, |

South Boulevard, Morehead Street and Kings Drive. The neighborhood is anchored by Carolinas Medical Center, the largest medical facility in the Carolinas, to the south and by Dilworth Park and Dilworth Elementary School on its northern end.
Nearby Myers Park is one of the most prestigious addresses in all of Charlotte. Myers Park, like Dilworth, contains historic architecture and tree-lined streets. However, where Myers Park differentiates itself, is in its layout. The neighborhood was designed with curving streets, to flow with the natural landscape. With massive willow oaks, manicured lawns and winding roads, Myers Park seems more like a weekend retreat than an in-city neighborhood. Most of the residential properties of Myers Park are older, traditional homes but, like Dilworth, a few modern developments have added condominiums and townhouses to the options available.
The neighborhood is home to the Mint Museum of Art known for its extensive collections of American, African and Pre-Colombian art. Presbyterian Hospital, one of the city’s premier medical facilities borders the northern edge of the Myers Park community. Shopping and dining is located along the eastern edge of the community, just off Providence Road. It includes four-star restaurants, a theater, banks, an eclectic grocery and an historic hardware store. Education opportunities abound with Myers Park Traditional School, Myers Park High School and Queens University of Charlotte, a fully accredited four-year school with graduate programs including the famed McColl School of Business.
