Founded in 1887 as a company town for Cannon Mills, Kannapolis is a flourishing city of 38,000 people. A friendly community with a viable economy and strong work ethic, Kannapolis residents are proud of their city. There is plenty to do in Kannapolis, from playing and picnicking in the city’s five parks, attending a concert at the Village Park amphitheater or enjoying a favorite regional pastime, NASCAR racing at nearby Lowe’s Motor Speedway. During the summer months, residents attend Class-A baseball games of the Kannapolis Intimidators, a team in the Chicago White Sox farm system.

The city’s parks and recreation department offers classes, leagues and activities for all ages. The annual Cottonstock Festival features local arts and crafts along with food and entertainment.
Three school districts serve the students of Kannapolis: Kannapolis County Schools, Cabarrus County Schools, and Rowan-Salisbury Schools. Nearby colleges and universities include Rowan Cabarrus Community College, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Catawba College and Davidson College. Kannapolis is located on the I-85 corridor, just 30 minutes from Charlotte. Real estate in this area consists of single-family homes, townhouses and condominiums. |
