Steele Creek is a thriving community located in southwest Mecklenburg County. Covering more than 45 square miles of land, the community is loosely defined as the region west of Sugar Creek, east of Lake Wylie and south of Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.
Real estate options consist of single-family homes, condominiums and townhouses, estate properties as well as land lots for custom building. The population is about 16,000 and is rapidly growing, as blossoming developments continue to provide new and exciting options for prospective buyers.

For recreation, local residents have access to many facilities in and around their community. The NFL’s Carolina Panthers Bank of America Stadium and the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats Arena are both conveniently located in Uptown Charlotte. Nearby Lake Wylie is a premium venue for boating, fishing and water sports. The lake’s 325 miles of shoreline are dotted with parks, marinas and lakeside shopping areas. There are several parks and recreation sites, including McDowell Nature Center and Nature Preserve and Copperhead Island. Residents interested in organized play can contact the Steele Creek Athletic Association, which manages several youth sports programs. Games are hosted at the Steele Creek Athletic Complex.
Public schooling in Steele Creek is under the jurisdiction of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Some of the campuses within the community are: Lake Wylie Elementary, Steele Creek Elementary, Winget Park Elementary, Kennedy Middle School, Southwest Middle School and Olympic High School. |
